LET US HELP YOU TO PROTECT YOUR BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE HERITAGE PROPERTY
Preventing Fire - Protecting Life - Preserving Heritage
Specialist fire safety management and consultancy company Heritage & Ecclesiastical Fire Protection ...
... has the necessary experience and expertise you need to adequately protect life and property from fire in your historic building and to ensure full compliance with fire safety law and insurance requirements.
Heritage and Ecclesiastical Fire Protection was formed in response to two serious issues involving fire safety and its application in historic buildings.
Firstly, the terrible loss of our cultural heritage to fire, the buildings and interiors, much of which is preventable. It is strange how we fail to fully appreciate these buildings until a fire has destroyed them. A relatively small amount of money cannot be found to invest in fire prevention and protection for these buildings to preserve the genuine historic fabric yet, following their total destruction by fire, many millions of pounds are found to recreate a facsimile, a pastiche, a fake reproduction of what we have lost forever.
Secondly, in buildings where fire protection measures have been taken, the tragic mutilation of historic interiors by the intrusion of modern fire safety installations. Often requested by fire risk assessors, for life safety purposes, and installed by contractors, both of whom may only ever have worked on contemporary buildings, these poor choices can ruin the special historic and spititual character and ambience of these magnificent places, sometimes even damaging the ancient fabric itself and beyond repair.
It is a difficult balance to strike to provide adequate fire protection for life and property and to integrate this sympathetically, and without irreversible damage, into a heritage building. It requires advanced knowledge, skills and judgement from a heritage specialist fire risk assessor to get this balance right.
Our MD is a fire safety professional with over 14 years experience of assessing and enforcing Fire Regulations and Building Regulations in all types of buildings, and with 10 years of expert knowledge and experience dealing with the fire safety requirements of listed and ecclesiastical buildings. With a passion for historical buildings, he was formerly the Heritage and Church Building Fire Safety Advisor for the Fire Authority, has worked closely with the National Trust and English Heritage and has been commended for his pragmatic and sensitive attitude and values towards fire safety in heritage buildings. He also holds the Ascentis Award in Heritage Construction.
You can have every confidence in our knowledge of the intricacies of fire safety in historic buildings and that we will provide you with the most comprehensive fire risk assessment for your special heritage building or church - safeguarding our past for our future.

more about OUR THREE PRINCIPLES
Preventing Fire
The ideal situation, of course, is to prevent a fire starting in a building in the first place and it is the obvious first stage of physically assessing the risk of a fire within any building. We pay great attention in our fire risk assessments to identify potential ignition sources and combustible materials and seek solutions to reduce the risks of a fire starting accidentally or deliberately. Our fire risk assessments always include a comprehensive arson risk assessment.

Protecting Life
Safeguarding the occupants inside a building is still the most important part of our fire risk assessments. It is the first and foremost aspect of any fire safety management strategy. We will always ensure that, regardless of the age or physical constraints of a building, life safety will be the number one priority and we will advise you on any aspects of your building that fall short of full compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Preserving Heritage
Preserving heritage buildings from fire is about knowing of a fire quickly and limiting its spread. Pragmatic solutions to fire safety issues and careful selection of equipment, and how it is installed, is our philosophy when fire risk assessing an historic building and interior. Our thorough and robust fire safety strategies are individually tailored to your building to ensure that it has the very best fire protection with the minimum visual impact.
